Booked!

No, not the kind that can be read. Not even remotely close to that, because I enjoy books. I am (tentatively) booked for a day surgery on the 8th of October. Just a brief history: my husband and I found out that I have endometriosis December of last year. Our specialist wanted to operate immediately but at that time we were flying out to Manila for our holiday. We agreed that I would have the operation once we get back from our hols. As fate would have it the operation was postponed (again) because when we got back to Sydney my husband was told that he was being assigned to Tamworth. It all happened so fast, next thing we knew we weren't Sydneysiders anymore. Sad!

Anyway, we finally decided to have the surgery scheduled two weeks from now. It just a day surgery which means I get to go 'home' the same day. We're planning to leave Tamworth on the 7th, stay for 3 nights at a hotel close to the surgery venue then go back to Tamworth on Sunday the 10th.

I would be lying if I say that I'm not scared. Heck, I've been scared ever since we found out that I need to have the operation. I've never had something like this happen to me ever. The closest I got to being in a hospital was a 4-hour stay at the emergency room because I was having ulcer attacks and no amount of pain killer could numb the pain. I had to be injected with morphine just so I could sleep and not feel anything. But this one's different. Somebody is going to cut into my body! Thank God I would be put under general anaesthesia so I won't feel a thing during the surgery. It's the 'after the surgery' that I'm afraid of. Amidst all my apprehensions and fear, I have faith that God will always look after me. :)

Currently Watching: Friends Season 4

I loved watching Friends during the 90's. I've seen most of the episodes but I reckon I still missed heaps. So when I saw the Friends Season 4 DVD from the library, I immediately borrowed it. I wanted to start with Season 1 but I couldn't find it in the shelves, the same with Seasons  2 and 3. They were either on loan or in another branch of the library so I just placed reservations for them. There are four discs in Season 4, each with 6 episodes. I'm still not done watching disc 1! Hehe. Today I received notice from the library that Season 3 is now available for me to pick up. I'll probably do so on Saturday. I've been busy ever since I joined the library. So many books to read and so many DVDs to watch, So little time! :)

Books and Whatnots

I <3 books! I love reading about anything and everything under the sun. It's probably why I've such bad eyesight now. Hehe. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I finally went to the local library here in Tamworth and joined. I've been contemplating about doing this for a long time and now I want to kick myself for not doing so earlier. I could have joined the day we got here! Well as the saying goes, there's no use crying over spilled milk.

I love the atmosphere and energy of the library. I also love the fact that I can borrow not just books but magazines and DVDs as well. The first time I went there I ended up borrowing 5 books and 3 DVDs. Hehe. Such fun, and it's free, too! :)

Holidays Within A Holiday

Victoria Harbour, Hong Kong
When we went back to Manila for a holiday last year we decided to have mini-holidays on the side. We figured it's much easier (and cheaper!) to go to other countries from Manila than Sydney. So it resulted to us going to Hong Kong (where we spent New Year 2010 and Ochok's birthday), Macau and finally Singapore before returning to Sydney. Using my husband's words, that holiday was like Amazing Race. Hehe. In total we only spent two weeks in Manila, that meant just two weeks spent with family and friends. I only realized that fact when we were back in Sydney and felt like I didn't spend enough time with them as much as I should have. I must say though that my family was with us in Singapore. Still, I felt like time went by so fast.

St Paul Ruins, Macau
Merlion, Singapore

For our holiday this year, we still have mini-holidays but not as long/hectic as before. We've learnt our lesson the hard way. As I mentioned in a previous post, we're scheduled for a family holiday to Coron. I can't wait for that trip. I reckon we'll have heaps of (mis)adventures! All the tours are already organized, we just need to fly there. Then just last week my husband and I booked tickets to go to Hong Kong (again). Just for 4 days this time. I'm still on the process of doing our itinerary, searching for new things to do and new places to see. We might skip Disneyland this time. We're still debating about Ocean Park though because there were heaps of renovations last time. We're thinking maybe they have new attractions to offer now.

So far those are the mini-holidays confirmed for this year. I'm thinking of not adding to it anymore. I want to spend more time in Manila, more time with family. I'm looking forward to having quiet days at home. We'll see if I can stick to the plan. :)
